Trip to Yellowstone - Part 2

Here is what we have been up to during the last half of our trip to Yellowstone.
May 8 – Mother’s Day.  Went to breakfast at a local diner then attended church at Red Hills Southern Baptist Church.  That morning they had a guest pastor “in view of a call” and voted him as their new pastor.  How exciting to witness part of their church history.  Then spent some time on my new sewing machine.
May 9– Zion National Park.  Rode the shuttle bus to all the stops. Ate lunch on a picnic bench in front of the Zion Lodge.  Saw two California Condors at one of the stops. Got over 10,000 steps in by getting on and off the shuttle bus and a couple of short hikes. I can’t believe we lived in Colorado for over 30 years and are now just getting to see this part of Utah!
The organization that promotes this part of the country is called the “Peaks, Plateaus and Canyons Association”.   “Between the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and the Great Basin lies a land of remarkable presence: the province we know as the Colorado Plateau. Encompassing 150,000 square miles of Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado, the Colorado Plateau is home to one million people...one quarter of them Native American. Fifty-five percent of the Plateau is public land, including twenty-seven units of the National Park Service, seventeen national forests, one national wildlife refuge, twenty-six wilderness areas, and millions of acres of land under the stewardship of the Bureau of Land Management.”   Here is the link.  http://ppcaweb.org/
May 10 – Bryce Canyon National Park where we saw more of the beauty of God’s creation.  It looks just like the postcards, but even better in person!  It was cloudy most of the day, but didn’t rain.  The sun came out a few times to make the rocks look even more beautiful. Stopped at a small town café for a yummy dinner on the way home.
May 11 – Stayed in Cedar City and got the RV ready to continue our road trip to Yellowstone.
May 12 – Left Cedar City and spent the night in Provo UT.  Took time to drive through the beautiful BYU campus.  Also found a thrift store and bought many items I can use for sewing projects.
May 13 – Drove to Idaho Falls, Idaho today.  We had never been to this part of beautiful Idaho.  Coordinated and met a former co-worker at a rest area along I-15.  Got to chat with her for only a short  visit, but it was nice to see a familiar face! Saw the “Idaho Falls” on the Snake River for the first time.  Went to Joann’s Fabric store to get more supplies for a summer of sewing.  Kathie won’t have much access to a sewing store this summer!
May 14 – Drove to West Yellowstone Montana. We will stay here for three nights before we can set up in the employee campground.  After we set up the RV at the Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park, we had time to visit Yellowstone National Park.  We wanted to see the Old Faithful General store where we will be working.  Of course we saw Old Faithful then went to the visitor center, too.  Driving in and out of the park we saw many herds of Bison, a couple Elk and a GRIZZLY!  Not bad for the first day!
May 15 - Stayed in West Yellowstone today.  Out for breakfast then drove around this small town to see all the businesses and houses.  What a gem we found in West Yellowstone!! The Grizzly Discovery Center is a Not-for-Profit wildlife park & educational facility. They are taking great care of these rescued animals.  Saw many Grizzly bears, wolves and birds of prey. http://www.grizzlydiscoveryctr.org/
