Summer in Hayward Wisconsin

We are in the middle of tourist season!  More and more campers are arriving to enjoy the Hayward KOA campground.

We have been enjoying some of the local attractions on our days off.  We went to the Spooner Train and were the only passengers on the 45 minute trip!  I guess that is one of the perks to going during the week since Tuesday and Wednesday are our days off.

On Monday, June 22 Kathie was walking through the campground after closing the office/store.  She looked up and saw what looked like the Milky Way but, it was the Northern Lights!!!  She had never seen them before!  We got in the car and drove to a big open field to get a better look.  It was AWESOME!  Cross that off the bucket list!!

We are still enjoying the flowers at our campsite.  They are doing well in this climate!

We have visited Delta Diner in Delta, Wisconsin, less than 50 miles north of here.  It was featured on the Diners, Drive ins and Dives TV show.  It was VERY tasty food and a fun place to visit.
Yummy food at Delta Diner!

We are working the late shift, starting at 2 or 3pm then working to closing at 9:30 or 10:30 pm.  Terry has delivered many, many bundles of wood to the campsites.  Kathie is getting good at moping the floor in the store/office each evening!  We are each working over 30 hours a week!

While we have been driving around the back roads of norther Wisconsin, we have seen wildlife including three bear sightings in two days!

A mama and her 3 cubs.  Look at the one standing up!

  1. So cool you got to see the Northern Lights! We're in Alaska and I'm not leaving until we see them! Right now, it never gets dark. So, I guess we'll be here a while. :)
