Working at Hayward KOA campground

We have been looking forward to working at the Hayward KOA since November and the day finally arrived!
We arrived at the campground in enough time to be able to take a couple days to get all set up before our first day of work.  We have a lovely site in this campground that used to be a tree farm!  There are 80 foot red pine trees that surround us in all directions!

The first day we both received our YELLOW shirts!

Kathie is working in the office/store, learning the KOA software system for registration and store purchases.  Terry worked on getting the swimming pool ready and many other chores in preparation for the big Memorial Weekend crowd.

The owners and other “Work Kampers” are very friendly and have welcomed us with open arms. We think this will be a fun summer that will go fast!  There is so much to be done around the campground just to get ready for the guests to arrive.

The first weekend we were there was Mother’s Day weekend.  Saturday the campground offered a craft time for the kids to make something for their mothers.  Kathie was able to help with that activity and even got to push a baby in a stroller while Dad helped his other young children with their crafts for mom!  Kathie is way OK with this part of the job!

Then we helped to get the rest of the campground ready for the first BIG weekend of Memorial Day!  There were be about 1,000 campers here and 400 of them were children in over 200 campsites!  WOW!  Terry drives around a golf cart delivering fire wood to the campsites that the campers have ordered!  He was very busy those evenings!

Kathie is excited to have planters of flowers at the campsite.  Not much hail in this part of the country but, we did have to bring them inside a couple of nights because of a freeze warning.
