We will be spending the
summer in Hayward Wisconsin at the Hayward KOA RV Park. We will be one of 42 employees at this big
campground. Kathie will work in the
office/store and Terry will be working in the maintenance department doing
whatever they need him to do!

We have been looking
forward to getting back “on the road again”, heading north but not the part
about driving through the “tornado alley” part of the country. We have been
keeping a close eye on the weather forecast and decided to start the trip north
earlier than we planned. We are thankful
that we had a great “window” of weather. We had some light moisture the first
couple of days then had no rain and some sun the rest of the trip! There was a
little wind the last day.
One night we stayed in
Peculiar, Missouri! We had never heard
of it! It is about 30 miles south of
Kansas City. What a cute small
town! It has one of the last few 3
legged water towers. Here is the link to
the question we all have…. How did the
town get its name?

Another night we stayed in
Clear Lake, Iowa at the Oakwood RV Park.
(Clear Lake is about 150 miles south of Minneapolis, MN.) What a NICE and
friendly park. They even sold yard eggs
from the chickens they have here at the campground! WOW!
They had an old phone booth that now holds wires for the WIFI
setup!

Do you know what Clear
Lake, Iowa is famous for? Without using
google, try to think of it. I will give
the answer at the bottom of this post!
We asked for a recommendation for dinner that night and ate at the Half
Moon Inn Restaurant & Lounge.
Delightful experience and yummy food at a local place! What a special small town this is, right on
the big Clear Lake.

OK, OK did you get the
answer to “What is Clear Lake, Iowa famous for?
The answer is: Home of the Surf Ballroom, site of Buddy
Holly’s last concert on February 2, 1959.
Holly along with Ritchie Valens and JP “The Big Bopper” Richardson died
