WOW, what a blast from the past!
As I drove past my alma mater, I noticed the school marquee
said “100th anniversary celebration”! What!
I didn’t know Antioch Community High School was 100 years old with this
year’s graduating class. As I researched
I find out that we will be here for Homecoming week!
Thursday night we attended the Homecoming Parade, right down
Main Street! Then Friday they opened up
the school to alumni for tours of the building!
They even had a rack of all the old yearbooks! So I grabbed mine and found my picture! Many changes to the building have taken
place, but I found a few familiar places, like the gym where my graduation was
held and the cafeteria where we ate lunch then decorated and had dances in the
evenings.
After the tour, we attended the Homecoming football
game. I made my way down to the Alumni
tent at the north end of the football field. How fun to shout “Go Sequoits”
with many hundreds of other fans!
Did not find anyone from my class of 1972, but talked to many
other alums and family about shared experiences.
