We
visited the California State Railroad Museum this weekend. http://www.csrmf.org/
We just happened to be there on
National Train Day! Who knew there was
such a thing? National Train Day is a
holiday started by Amtrak in 2008 as a method to spread information to the
general public about the advantages of rail travel and the history of trains in
the United States. It is held each year on the Saturday closest to May 10, the
anniversary of the pounding of the Golden Spike in Promontory, Utah which marked
the completion of the first transcontinental railroad within the United
States.
The
California State Railroad Museum is a FABULOUS museum in Sacramento. This museum
is PHENOMENAL. Many train engines & cars. Quite a few that you can walk
inside of, too. We were able to take a 40 minute train ride!
This is where the guys went during Stephanie’s bridal
shower last year. I got to see why my
grandson was so excited about this place.
Especially the second floor where the toy trains were and the train
tables that the kids can play with!
Also, my friend Tracey drove up from the Bay area so we
could have breakfast together. It was
nice to catch up with my former co-worker from Colorado Springs who now lives in
California.
This week I attended a showing of the Focus on the
Family movie, Irreplaceable. Don’t pass
up a chance to see this movie. This is
the first in a series of feature documentaries that will recover, renew and
create conversation about the family unit. http://www.irreplaceablethemovie.com/ Looks like there will be an encore
presentation on May 15.
