We have had a fun time during our last week in
California. We left Sacramento and
headed to Vandenberg Air Force Base to use their FamCamp. Terry had fun seeing how the base has changed
since he last visited here while on active duty. He was able to ride his bike on base, too.
We used this as a base camp to visit the area and we ate at
Andersen’s Pea Soup restaurant in Buellton.
One of our day trips was to Santa Barbara where we ate at Cold Springs
Tavern, visited the Reagan Ranch Center/Gallery, then watched the finish of
stage 5 of the Tour of California bike race.
Another day trip was to the Reagan Presidential Library in
Simi Valley. Wow, what an honor to visit
the library and see his grave site.
We celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary by
going to Solvang for Danish and coffee, a trolley ride around the Danish
Capital of America, then lunch at the Red Viking.
Lots of farms and vineyards in this area of the state. We are not used to seeing black soil! No wonder this area is good for farming. Not like the red/brown clay dirt we were used
to in Colorado.
