Land of Lincoln

We had a BLAST being in the Chicago area for the whole month of September.  Thanks to everyone for their hospitality and taking time to visit with us. It was GREAT to see everyone and catch up with “life”.
Fall is officially here!  It started to "rain" leaves!

We left the Chicago area on Wednesday, driving south on our way to Branson.  We drove through Springfield Illinois, the state capital and home to many things of President Lincoln.  Did you know he was the one who said “You can fool all the people part of the time and part of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time”?  While campaigning against Stephen A. Douglas for a seat in the US Senate in 1858, Lincoln gave this quotable speech in response to an accusation by Douglas.

As we were driving south yesterday through much farmland, we saw many, many farmers harvesting their crops.  Even one right next to our campground south of Springfield, IL.  I didn’t realize till the middle of the night that they were getting the crops in before the rain.  It started raining about 8pm and is still raining this morning. I even saw a farmer’s wife taking him his lunch so he would be able to continue with the harvest.  God bless the life of farmers and their families!
Farmer harvesting before the rain started later that night!
