August in Colorado Springs

It was so nice to be back in Colorado Springs for an extended time.  We were able to attend our church and Sunday school class more than once.  It was so nice to reconnect with our friends and also attend the annual class picnic.  I was also able to see all my friends at Curves more than once.  I really miss working out at my home club.  Had lunch or coffee with many other friends, too.  Great to see everyone again!

How fun it was to celebrate Kathie’s big 6-0 birthday with many friends. Thanks again for Gary & Donna for traveling from Texas to spend my birthday weekend with us. Even had coffee with Brenda, my birthday buddy who is 24 hours older than me!

We also spent a getaway weekend with Sarah.  She chose Breckenridge, so off we went. She had fun riding in the RV.  (She would like us to come out during the winter to give her a ride back & forth to the ski slopes!) We enjoyed riding the gondola and seeing people enjoy the summer fun park. The food is always good there and walking around town looking at the shops is even more fun with Sarah!  Since we spent part of our honeymoon in Breckenridge, we always enjoy going there.

We got caught up on doctor appointments and got to some of the storage room boxes, too.  We have had time to use our convection oven.  What a treat to have hot PaPa Murphy’s pizza out of the oven again.

We were able to attend a couple of stages of the USA Pro Challenge during our last week here.  Many riders in the race also rode in the Tour de France so it was fun to be able to see them up close as they rode by. Stage 4 of the race was in Colorado Springs and the finish was in Denver.

Cheering at the finish line in Denver!

Sunday we went to Denver early to have breakfast with Sarah.  She suggested “SNOOZE Eatery” at the newly remodeled Union Station.  WOW, did they do a FABULOUS job on the remodel of the train station.

They saved some of the old benches.

New water feature outside.
Found this old vault in the basement.  If walls could talk!
Beautiful windows above the clock.
Beautiful chandeliers!  Notice the new boutique hotel rooms added above the station?
?We are headed to Chicago area for the month of September.  Kathie has not been back there since her dad’s funeral in 1999.  I hope to get caught up with all my relatives and friends. Maybe I can see some of them more than once!
